Telehealth Solutions Ltd. Wins Kensington & Chelsea Contract

Kensington & Chelsea PCT have contracted Telehealth Solutions to provide an NHS Health Checks appointment helpline, aiming to book 8500 appointments by April 2012.

NHS Health Checks are part of a national programme for adults aged between 40 and74. Borough residents can call to book an NHS Health Check: a free 30-minute test that assesses their risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type 2 diabetes.

Residents will then be supported to reduce or manage their risk through individually tailored advice.

Residents can choose to  book their NHS Health Check at a variety of locations :  at a local GP surgery, their local pharmacy, or even somewhere near their office (if they live and work in K&C).

Pharmacists and GP surgery staff can view and confirm bookings using an online application – that creates a cohesive, flexible service.

Anyone booking an appointment gets a confirmation text sent straight to their phone, and then another reminder text on the day of their check – just  in case.

The NHS Health Check involves some straightforward questions about age, sex, family history and lifestyle. Height, weight and blood pressure are recorded and a simple finger-prick blood test measures cholesterol and blood glucose. This is followed by free personalised advice on how to stay healthy..

People living in the Kensington and Chelsea borough can call to book an appointment between 8am and 8pm, or call any other time and leave their details with the team.

Telehealth Solutions’ Executive Chairman, Jeremy Cummin said

Everyone is at risk from heart disease, stroke, kidney disease or type 2 diabetes. The good news is that these diseases can often be prevented. Even if you’re feeling well, it’s worth taking up your invitation for an NHS Health Check – prevention is definitely better than cure.

This centre will make it easier than ever to empower patients, and help to keep them well and healthy – there isn’t anything more important than that’

NB. NHS Health Checks are available for people aged 40-74 who have not already been diagnosed with heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes or kidney disease.
