Tom Niven – COPD patient

Paisley,

Renfrewshire

“I now suffer from COPD and have had asthma since I was a child, though it was never really debilitating. When I was asked to take part in this pilot project for my surgery I fully expected someone to come along with a clipboard to ask me some questions, so it was a surprise to get the Home Pod and all the equipment delivered to my home.

"I have had it for more than a year now and find it easy to use, despite the fact I have no medical knowledge at all. I simply take a few minutes out every morning or night to answer health questions on the machine and it sends the results to my doctor. Having the Home Pod does give me a degree of reassurance in that I know if there’s anything wrong my doctor can contact me a lot sooner than before.”

Jim Simons – COPD patient

Rothesay,

Isle of Bute

“I get up every morning and use my Home Pod, which gives me an idea how my health is for that day. Before I had the machine I was up at the hospital two or three times a week. Now, if I get uptight due to my condition, I’ll enter the data and I usually get a phone call within an hour from my doctor.”
